ABOUT THE COLLABORATIVE:
The Emergency Services and Family Stabilization Network was founded in 1997 and provides emergency services to approximately 10,000 households per year. The Network was formed to combine the resources and strengths of the emergency service departments of the member agencies, thereby increasing the effectiveness of emergency services provided to the Rochester area.
The overall goal is to help improve the socio-economic status of low income families in the Greater Rochester community through a coordinated, culturally competent and cost effective service delivery model and method.
Each agency maintains its uniqueness for serving low-income families and individuals, yet share a common model for moving clients from crisis to self-sufficiency. This model guides the Network in helping families through emergency situations, developing goals that help prevent future emergency situations, and increase family stabilization.
SERVICES PROVIDED
The Emergency Services Providers (Baden Street Settlement, Catholic Family Center, Charles Settlement House, Community Place of Greater Rochester, IBERO American Action League, and Southwest Area Neighborhood Association) assist individuals and their families to meet basic family needs. Those seeking immediate assistance will be able to resolve their immediate needs for food, clothing, rent/mortgage, transportation, prescription assistance, vital records, identify steps to avoid repeat crisis, and develop plans for self sufficiency.
Additionally, families and individuals will be referred to other services such as substance abuse treatment programs, case management services, and job training or employment programs as needed. Many of these programs are also located at member agencies. The legal assistance member organization (Legal Assistance of Western New York, Inc.) provides free legal assistance for low income individuals. As part of this network their emergency services program provides assistance with both income maintenance issues (focusing on government benefits), eviction prevention and housing stabilization assistance.
ADDITIONAL SERVICE
Foodlink distribution provides services to 500 agencies throughout 10 counties. Programs include Curbside Market, Urban Farm Stands, Kids Café & Summer Nutrition, Cooking Matters, and much more. Visit foodlinkny.org or call 2-1-1 for more information.
